Google AI SEO Course: What Google Actually Offers
Google has no AI SEO course, but it does publish official guidance on AI Overviews and AI Mode. Here is what exists and what to take instead.

Does Google offer an AI SEO course?
Not as of September 26, 2026. People search for a Google AI SEO course expecting something like the old Google Digital Garage certificates, but Google has not released a course on optimizing for AI Overviews, AI Mode or Gemini. What it does publish is documentation.
The most relevant page is Google's AI features and your website guide in Search Central. Its core message is that the same SEO best practices apply: a page needs to be indexed and eligible to show a snippet in normal search to be eligible for AI features, and Google says no additional technical requirements or special optimizations are needed. It also explains that AI feature traffic is counted inside the normal Search Console performance report, and that snippet controls such as nosnippet and max-snippet limit how content appears.
Google also offers the SEO Starter Guide, which is still the best free primer on the basics that AI features rely on.
What about Google AI Essentials?
Google's AI Essentials program on Coursera is a Google-built course, but it is about using AI tools at work, not search optimization. When we checked, the page did not mention SEO at all. It is not an AI SEO course.
The closest thing to a Google AI SEO course
If you want structured lessons that line up with Google's guidance, the free academy courses are the practical answer. They teach the vocabulary and measurement side, and most of them spend real time on the classic SEO work Google says still applies.
